James Marr is a classically trained pianist offering piano lessons in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. With over 10 years of piano experience, James is passionate about sharing his love of music and supporting students throughout their musical journey.
James is currently completing a Diploma in Music at the University of Melbourne alongside studies in Biomedicine. He holds an AMusA in Piano (2023) and achieved a perfect score of 7/7 in IB Music Higher Level (2024). In addition to piano, James is an active cellist, performing with orchestras and chamber ensembles, and has completed AMEB Grade 8 Cello. James offers personalised lessons tailored to each student’s interests, goals, and musical background. Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of musical styles while developing strong foundations in technique, repertoire, aural skills, sight reading, and overall musicianship. He also provides a variety of learning resources, including personalised musical arrangements for students where appropriate. Lessons are designed to be supportive, engaging, and well structured, whether students are preparing for AMEB practical or theory exams, learning the fundamentals of the instrument, or simply developing confidence and enjoyment at the piano. James is committed to fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment where students can build both musical skills and a lifelong appreciation for music.
