Melbourne Piano School - Billing & Enrolment (Children's Piano Lessons)
Getting Started
Thanks so much for joining us at Melbourne Piano School... we're very excited to have you on board and starting lessons for your family soon! Please review the information below about billing and enrolment, and feel free to be in touch with us by email or phone if you have any questions.
The initial lesson will be billed as a single lesson so your child has the chance to try out piano lessons with their new teacher without any further commitment. We send an invoice at the time of booking and you can choose to pay by credit card (via the Pay Now button on the invoice) or bank transfer. Payment is due at the time of booking. Please be sure to include the invoice number on the transaction description if paying by bank transfer.
After the initial lesson we will check in with you to see if you would like to enrol your child in regular weekly lessons throughout the term.
If you decide to proceed, we'll book in a regular weekly lesson time and your first invoice will be pro-rated according to the number of weeks left in the term. We follow the Victoria school terms. Some teachers also offer lessons during the school holiday period which are optional. School holiday lessons will be billed separately, or added to the next term's invoice.
Ongoing Lessons
After attending the initial lesson and confirming that you'd like to continue, we will reserve a specific lesson time for your child on a weekly basis. Enrolment is ongoing on a term by term basis unless you let us know otherwise. Invoices will be sent once per term and are due prior to the term start. Please note that piano tuition is non-refundable.
Billing & Enrolment FAQ
What happens if my child is sick and cannot attend a lesson?
If your child is unable to attend a lesson, please contact their teacher directly to reschedule. Please note that we allow one lesson to be rescheduled per student, per term. For further details, please see our Studio Policy.
Our family will be going on holidays early and will miss the last 2 weeks of term. What happens in this situation?
If you let us know before the start of term that you will be away for specific dates, we will not book or invoice you for those lessons.
My child is no longer interested in piano lessons and would like to drop out part way through the term. Can we get a refund?
Unfortunately we do not offer refunds on piano lessons once the term has started. This is in accordance with Australian Consumer Law and our Studio Policy to ensure a stable educational environment for students and professional working environment for our dedicated teachers.
Do you accept cash payments for piano lessons?
Please note that we do not accept cash at our studios. All tuition payments should be made to Melbourne Piano School via bank transfer or credit card (click and pay on your invoice), and not directly to teachers. The only exception is if a teacher has purchased a book or teaching resource for you, you are welcome to reimburse them in cash.
Do you offer fortnighly or casual piano lessons if we do not want to commit to regular weekly lessons?
Having a regular weekly lesson is the best way for your child to develop a foundation in piano and achieve steady progress. While we don't recommend casual lessons for children, we can offer them in certain circumstances. Please contact us to discuss further.
What happens if my child's lesson falls on a public holiday?
Some of our piano teachers prefer to continue teaching on public holidays, so just check in with your child's teacher prior to the holiday and find out if they will be teaching on this day. Attending lessons on public holidays is completely optional, and you will not be billed for lessons on holidays if you'd rather wait until the following week.
Books & Resources
Piano books and resources are not included in tuition and can be purchased online, from your local music store, or in some cases directly from your piano teacher.
Billing & Payment Policy
Additional Lessons: If any additional lessons are scheduled after term lessons have been invoiced, those additional lessons will be billed on a catch-up invoice later in the term.
Late Payment: If your payment is not received by the due date, we will send you a reminder via email or SMS. If due to extenuating circumstances you are unable to pay the invoice on time, please contact us in advance to discuss a payment plan. In the event that your payment is more than 14 days overdue and you have not contacted us regarding a payment plan, a $15 late payment fee will be added to the overdue invoice. For accounts that are more than 3 months overdue a monthly admin fee and interest may apply.
Pay As You Go for Casual Lessons: If you need a flexible scheduling arrangement, casual lessons may be booked and you can pay as you go. Please note that casual lessons are an additional $7.50 per lesson compared to lessons by the term and do not guarantee a regular lesson time. Casual lessons are offered dependent on teacher availability. Payment for casual lessons is required at the time of booking.
