Samuel Duong, Pianist & Music Educator

Samuel Duong is a classically trained pianist and music educator currently completing his Bachelor of Music at The University of Melbourne. He offers piano lessons from his home studio in Cairnlea and specialises in teaching children, teenagers, and adults at the beginner to intermediate levels.
 
Samuel’s studies at Melbourne Conservatorium have afforded him the opportunity to attend numerous masterclasses with highly respected pianist/educators such as Kenji Fujimura, Glen Riddle, and Cameron Roberts. These invaluable learning experiences have greatly shaped his approach and understanding of musicality and piano pedagogy.

His studies of piano performance under the tutelage of esteemed piano educator Elizabeth Mitchell have inspired him to develop a “‘slow and mindful” approach to piano learning. He has a particular focus on problem solving, encouraging students to be able to think and learn on their own where applicable.
 
Aside from performance, Samuel has diverse musical interests, including composition, music production and enjoys exploring other musical genres such as electronic music. Where suitable, he introduces these aspects of music in the lessons, providing a comprehensive and holistic music education.
 
Whether you’re aiming to complete AMEB exams or to simply learn piano for fun, Samuel is dedicated to providing a flexible and broad education with a strong focus on the fundamentals of piano technique, rhythm and musicality. Having taught students of varying ages and levels, Samuel has a patient and encouraging teaching approach, and is skilled in building a strong and trusting relationship with young children.

Samuel teaches piano in Melbourne's western suburbs at his studio at 41 Waterview Drive, Cairnlea in Brimbank City. He teaches on a Yamaha upright piano.
