Jakob Bragg is a composer, pianist, and educator offering in-home lessons in piano, theory and composition around Melbourne’s southeast.
 
Jakob began piano lessons at age 9, working through the AMEB examinations before going on to specialise in composition through his Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University (QCGU). He has since relocated to Melbourne and is now studying a Master of Music at the University of Melbourne, Conservatorium of Music (MCM).
 
Jakob has studied with esteemed composers such as Gerard Brophy, Stuart Greenbaum, Liza Lim and Elliott Gyger. As an emerging Australian composer, his works have been performed and workshopped by the Australian Youth Orchestra, Queensland Philharmonia Orchestra, new music group Kupka’s Piano, The Australian Voices, Queensland Saxophone Orchestra and a host of conservatorium ensembles, staff, and students. Jakob has received a host of honours including the Adolph Spivakovsky prize (MCM/VCA), a Sydney Eisteddfod prize (Open Composition section), the Owen Fletcher Postgraduate Prize, the Silver Harris & Jeff Peck Prize, and the A.G. Francis Prize (all from QCGU).
 
Jakob has taught for over 8 years across piano performance, theory, and composition from beginners to advanced.  His teaching approach is tailored towards each student’s goals and needs, combining classical technique and a basic understanding of theory.  He has experience teaching at specialist music studios, schools, and via private tuition. Students have been successful in AMEB exams, school recitals and assignments, and have developed a real passion for music.
