Dr. Amy Chao is an accomplished classical pianist and music educator offering piano lessons in Templestowe.
Born in Taiwan, Amy began her musical journey at the age of 3 with the YAMAHA music education program and started learning piano at 5 years old. In Australia, she studied under esteemed pianists Alexander Semeski and En Pei Lin. Awarded a music scholarship at Camberwell Girls’ Grammar, Amy immersed herself in their music program, serving as school pianist and participating in ensembles and orchestras, also showcasing her versatility on the viola. She excelled in competitions, including performing a piano concerto with a local symphony orchestra. Amy studied dentistry for her tertiary education, however, continued her pursuit in music. She played piano at her church (traditional and contemporary) and also taught children in Sunday School for over 10 years. Amy is both an experienced piano teacher and seasoned performer. Amy teaches both classical and contemporary piano, and is well versed in teaching the YAMAHA method curriculum. She is able to teach in both English or Mandarin at her home studio in Templestowe. Amy is also available for performances or piano accompaniment at private and public events.
