Amber Chong is an accomplished classical pianist currently in her final year of the Bachelor of Music program (Piano Performance) at Melbourne Conservatorium, where she is mentored by internationally acclaimed pianist Coady Green. She now offers piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities in Glen Waverley.
At the age of 16 Amber completed VCE Units 3/4 Music Performance with a score placing her in the top 10%, while also completing her AMusA that same year. Her passion and dedication as a musician have led her to study with numerous esteemed musicians including Lithuanian pianist Gintaute Gataveckiate, Doctoral candidate Anna van Veldhuisen, English pianist Christopher Wayne Smith and classical singer Tiffany Speight. Amber has prepared masterclasses for many other accomplished pianists and performers, as well as accompanying choirs and vocalists in performances and rehearsals. She has been teaching keyboard, vocals and music theory both privately and in schools for five years, and has experience submitting and preparing students for AMEB examinations. Amber is empathetic towards students, allowing them to set their own goals whilst pushing gently for them to achieve their best. She is experienced with the VCE, Suzuki and AMEB syllabuses, having been a student in each of these herself. Amber strives to create a supportive, fun and enjoyable experience tailored to each student and their needs. She starts lessons with goals and uses a variety of techniques, such as musical games for younger students. As she has learnt from the many different teachers she is skilled at creating a unique experience and lesson for each student. Amber believes in a tactile, technique based approach to teaching, and she is very involved in her teaching style. She happily liaises with the student's parent or guardian to achieve the student's goals and support their parent or guardian as a unit. Music Qualifications: AMEB Associate of Music, 2019 AMEB Certificate of Perfomance, 2017 AMEB Grade 5 Theory, 2019 Bachelor of Music (Piano), Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, (Current student) Glen Waverley Piano Tuition Fees: 30 minutes - $50 45 minutes - $70 60 minutes - $90 Above fees are for ongoing weekly lessons, paid in advance by the term. Casual and fortnightly lessons may be offered dependent on availability and fees are an additional $7.50 per lesson. |
