Eudora Tong, Pianist & Music Educator
Eudora Tong is an award-winning Melbourne based pianist and music educator with three music degrees from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She holds a Master of Music (Musicology / Ethnomusicology), Master of Music Studies (Conducting), and Bachelor of Music (Honours).
Specialising in pedagogy and motivational psychology of piano students, Eudora studied with the renowned Professor Max Cooke and the late Professor John Hopkins OBE. Eudora also participated in masterclasses at esteemed classical music institutions such as the Royal Northern College of Music (UK) and the Wiener Musikseminar (Austria) Eudora has been teaching piano and violin since 2006 to students of all ages and abilities in Melbourne, Asia, and Europe. She enjoys mentoring students in all aspects of piano to help them develop their musical identities. Her keen interest for the arts eventually led to deeper psychological research of tertiary music students’ motivational career aspirations, working under the supervision of former Dean of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Professor Gary McPherson. She later completed a marketing PhD entitled, Passion, identity, and the model of Goal-Directed Behaviour in a classical music context. Eudora has performed solo internationally, including concerts in Singapore and Melbourne. She has also been a sought after accompanist for VCE student examinations and school choirs, and has enjoyed performing in contemporary church worship bands on violin and piano.
