Caleb Wilson, Pianist & Composer
Caleb Wilson is an accomplished pianist and composer specialising in jazz and improvised music. He teaches jazz, contemporary, and classical piano lessons to students of all ages.
Caleb attended the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS) for 3 years, where he studied both jazz and classical piano with esteemed pianists Mark Fitzgibbon, Monique DiMattina and Caroline Almonte. During his time at VCASS, he formed the Caleb Wilson Trio and since then has been performing at venues around Melbourne, including most recently a sold-out show at the Paris Cat Jazz Club. Caleb has also undertaken private studies with many of the biggest names in the Melbourne jazz scene, working with pianists such as Barney McAll, Joe O’Connor and Sam Keevers.
Currently, Caleb is completing a Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts, where he was awarded the Agnes Robertson Scholarship for Piano, and studies with the Australian National Academy of Music’s Head of Keyboard, Timothy Young.
As an educator, Caleb has worked with students of all ages and skill levels and has taught contemporary, jazz and classical music. Caleb aims to impart his love of music to his students and help them develop their own passion for piano and music in general. He tailors his lessons to each student to best suit their interests and learning styles, while still developing the student’s technical, theoretical and aural skills to a high level, ensuring they become well-rounded musicians.
Caleb teaches beginner to advanced jazz and contemporary music, and beginner to intermediate classical music to students of any age.
Caleb teaches on a Yamaha U1 upright piano and Nord keyboard at his home studio at 1 Warida Avenue, Malvern East. He also teaches piano online using a 2 camera setup.
