Amadis Lacheta, Pianist, Composer & Music Educator
Amadis Lacheta is a classically trained pianist and composer, with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Adelaide. She has been involved in making music for the past four decades, and teaches piano to students of all ages, abilities and inclinations from her studio in Brunswick.
Invited to study composition and piano at the then Canberra School of Music by composer Larry Sitsky, Amadis subsequently took up studies with Graeme Koehne at the University of Adelaide and had freelance composition lessons with Ross Edwards. She has composed music for piano, voice, chamber ensembles, choir, electronics, film and shadow puppetry, and performed solo and with various groups. Music has always been incredibly important to Amadis, who regards it as soul oxygen. She teaches classical, contemporary and improvisation, with a focus on developing both a sound technique and musicality, the magical ability to go beyond the notes on the page. Reading music, aural training, theory and understanding the creative and historic context of the piece are also part of her holistic approach. Regardless of whether you are interested in becoming a professional musician or just want to enjoy playing the piano and enhancing your appreciation of music, she offers tuition that supports your musical goals.
