Born in Sydney, Ann learned piano early with her mum at home then started piano lessons at the age of 6 and violin lessons at the age of 8. She has performed solo and in chamber ensembles in various concerts and won many piano awards and Eisteddfod prizes in Sydney, greater NSW and Melbourne. Ann was a young Academy Musician at ANAM (Australian National Academy of Music) and also a member of AYMA (Australian Young Musicians Academy).
In 2007, Ann was awarded AMusA (Associate Diploma in Music, Australia), and in 2010, she achieved LMusA (Licentiate Diploma in Music, Australia) in Piano Performance. She was awarded FTCL in 2012 (Fellowship Diploma in Piano Performance, Trinity College of Music, London). In 2014, Ann was finalist in the Preston Concerto Competition and in 2015 the finalist in 3MBS programme, The Talent. At the University of Melbourne, she has been the recipient of four prestigious scholarships: the Francis Quinn Arts Encouragement Award (2014), the DW Gardiner Fund Award (2016), Florence Menk Meyer Prize (2016) and most recently the Madeline Orr Scholarship for Excellence in 2017. Ann graduated from the Bachelor of Music with First-Class Honours at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, the University of Melbourne. She is currently studying the Master of Music (Music Performance, Research Higher Degree) at the Melbourne Conservatorium. Ann has experience teaching from young children to mature adult learners. She encourages students of any age to partake in AMEB exams, preparing and playing their works to the best performance standard they can achieve. She is also pleased to teach students who want to learn the piano for leisure as well. For Ann, learning the piano is more than just physically playing the piano but also involves aural perception, cognitive approaches to analysing the music, refinement of playing technique, understanding music theory and performance practice methods. Ann is a registered music teacher with the Victorian Music Teachers’ Association. Ann teaches on a Yamaha C5 Concert Grand Piano at her studio at 1 Roy St, Melbourne 3004
