About Our Referral ProgramMelbourne Piano School operates with a unique collaborative business model dedicated to building community and supporting both our students and teachers to realize their full creative potential. We've been offering our referral program to qualified piano teachers across Melbourne since 2013 .
The Melbourne Piano School referral program is a mutually beneficial arrangement where we refer prospective students to a piano teacher in our network as enquiries come through our website. All teachers in the referral program operate independently from their own studio and run the lessons as they normally would. |
HOW IT WORKS |
Melbourne Piano School receives hundreds of student enquiries each year through our website and marketing channels. When an enquiry comes through, we contact the student and forward it by email to the teacher in our network who we think would be the best fit for the student. Often this is based on the geographical location of the teacher's studio and proximity to the student. However we also take into consideration the teacher's special interests and qualifications, teaching style, and experience.
The teacher then follows up directly with the student via phone or email and sets up an initial lesson. We do not take payment, and all payments are made directly to the teacher, not Melbourne Piano School. As a teacher affiliated with Melbourne Piano School you continue to operate your business independently as you normally would. While you are an integral part of our team, you are not an employee and there is no guarantee of a certain number of hours or students from us. However we are very specific about the teachers we take on board and in most cases a teacher affiliated with us can expect 10 - 15 student referrals per year for inner city locations. |
Referral Fees
WE OFFER
|
A referral fee becomes payable to MPS after the third lesson if the student decides to continue lessons with you, or if the student drops out after attending one or two lessons.
For students that continue with you, the referral fee is paid in two portions: once after attending 3 lessons, and again after 6 months (if the student still continues with you at that point). Each referral fee payment is equivalent to 3 lessons plus GST, with a minimum fee of $140 + GST per student, per payment. So the maximum referral fee payable per student is equivalent to 6 lessons + GST, if the student continues with you ongoing beyond 6 months. After the second lesson, we recommend invoicing the student for the remainder of the term so you have a financial commitment from them. Once you've paid MPS the student referral fees, no other fees in relation to this student will be collected from MPS and the student becomes your client for as long as you keep them. If the student decides not to continue lessons with you, the referral fee is 15% of the value of the lessons taken + GST. So, if no lessons are taken, there is no referral fee. A tax invoice / receipt will be issued on request for referral fees at the end of the financial year. Referral fees can be claimed as a tax-deductible expense.
As a teacher with Melbourne Piano School we will create a profile page on our website which is SEO optimised to promote your work and attract potential students looking for a piano teacher in your area. The profile page will include your bio and qualifications, photos, google map, your fees, testimonials, and a registration link. Your profile will likely appear in the first page of google for searches for piano lessons in your locality. With your permission we may also promote your work on external websites and occasionally with google ads. We also offer ongoing support for other aspects of your music teaching work if needed. If there is any question or issue that comes up at any point with your studio, the Director and admin team are available to discuss via phone and email.
