Melbourne Piano School is very grateful to be offering piano lessons at a unique venue in the heart of North Fitzroy, 75 Reid St. Built in the 1920s, this beautifully restored venue continues its tradition of being a dynamic hub for community life in Melbourne's inner north. It's managed by Fitzroy North Community Church, a congregation that has been in the neighbourhood since 1890. They recently asked us to share a bit about us and how we ended up at 75 Reid St....
Back in 2012 I started teaching piano as an independent teacher out of my apartment in Elwood. After a year or two of teaching I had more students than I could keep up with and started engaging other teachers in the area. Melbourne Piano School grew out of my passion for music education and bringing together an outstanding team of music educators. We offer piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities at more than 15 locations across Melbourne (both at commercial studios, home studios, and at students' homes). Many of our teachers have been mentored by some of the most imminent pianists in Australia. Our goal is to share not only our expertise, but also our passion for music and offer students an empowering educational experience that inspires them to discover their own unique musical expression.
Currently our piano teacher at 75 Reid St is Linh Doan, an award winning music educator who is in the final stages of completing her Master of Teaching Performance at The University of Melbourne. Linh has mentored many students to a very high level of achievement in piano. In June 2018 she received an award for her excellence in teaching music from the American Protege International Competition at Carnegie Hall, New York. Linh has a few spaces available for new students on Sunday and Monday afternoons and evenings.
We have been offering private piano lessons at 75 Reid St since 2017. Our teachers and students love coming here as it's such a beautiful and spacious studio that's very much conducive to our work. Unlike other music schools where lessons are taught in a tiny rehearsal room, here we have ample space, sunlight streaming through the windows, and great acoustics. It's also a very convenient location in the heart of North Fitzroy. The team at 75 Reid St has been a pleasure to work with and their supportive, community-minded ethos aligns well with our own values.
