Piano Day Melbourne at Bennetts Lane Jazz club - March 28, 2016

3/23/2016

Piano Day in a new international holiday that was founded by young German Composer Nils Frahm in 2015. It takes place on the 88th day of the year and is a unique opportunity to celebrate all things piano! Piano Day aims to promote piano-playing across all musical genres, transcending culture, age, and ability.

Here in Melbourne we are lucky to have some amazing pianists who have come together to offer a special evening at Bennetts Lane Jazz Club. Luke Howard has created the event with his friends Nat Bartsch, Timothy Coghill and Timothy Stevens. They’ll be playing their own compositions as well as favourites from neo-classical composers Nils Frahm, Max Richter and Nico Muhly among others. Entry is by donation with all proceeds to Entertainment Assist, supporting the mental health of Australian entertainment industry workers.

“Why does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.” – Nils Frahm, Founder of Piano Day

Join us at Piano Day on March 28, 7PM at Bennetts Lane in Melbourne!
