Melbourne's Beat Magazine recently contacted us to hear more about what's happening at Melbourne Piano School. Here's a few questions we answered for their Education Special which will be published later this week on May 17th.
What does Melbourne Piano School offer their students?
We offer a fun, creative, and personalised approach to music education. Our teachers are passionate about piano and are not only great musicians, but are skilled in the art of mentoring students to realize their full creative potential. Lessons are individually tailored to student's goals and interests, and include a balanced mix of technical work, repertoire, games (for children), and theory.
Describe a typical Melbourne Piano School student?
Our students are of all ages and backgrounds, so we can't say there's a typical student. About half of our students are children who are learning piano because it's fun and gives them a new way to express themselves. We also work with a lot of adults, many who have always wanted to play piano and are learning it for the first time. Or they're coming back to piano after many years being away from it. It's never to late for anyone to start!
Where is Melbourne Piano School located?
Melbourne Piano School is unique in that we have more than 15 locations across Melbourne. Our studio headquarters is in Fitzroy North, and our other locations are at home studios. We also offer in-home lessons in some areas for students who prefer to learn at home.
Tell us about the Melbourne Piano School team?
Our team is a diverse group of musicians who are all highly experienced both as pianists and educators. We have award winning jazz and classical concert pianists, composers, songwriters, and music therapists, each with their own unique skills and backgrounds. What we share is our passion for piano and bringing out the best in our students.
Do you offer opportunities for students to perform?
Yes, we offer recitals twice each year which students are invited to perform in. We see performance as an important part of the learning process. It's an opportunity for students to share their progress in a warm and supportive environment with family and friends. Our next recital is coming up on 10 June in Richmond and is open to the public.
